The Coalition is well positioned and ready to effectively address the public health problem of youth marijuana and alcohol use by:

Community Engaged

Providing opportunities for continuing community evaluation, feedback, and involvement in the prevention process

Capacity Initiatives

Providing a framework and resources for continuing capacity-building initiatives, and prevention education.

Risk Identification

Establishing an efficient method for coalition members to identify local drug use and risk behaviors, with a strategic plan for impactful program implementation.

Strong Processes

Formalizing a procedure for collecting baseline data and ongoing program and outcome evaluation.

Community-Led Prevention

Utilizing community leaders, youth and parents to help give substance prevention and awareness messages to their community, schools and family members.

Empowering methodology

Developing a method to enable youth and adults to take positive action in influencing existing norms surrounding youth and community substance use.

Combating Marijuana Use in Youths

With the legalization of marijuana, increasing vape use, and consistently high reported rates ofunderage drinking, community education is needed to prevent further normalization of substance use.

Our Mission:

Foster and enhance partnerships between community stakeholders and organizations to tackle youth substance use, with the aim of decreasing substance use among young people and, consequently, adults. This will be achieved by addressing community factors that heighten the risk of substance use and promoting those that mitigate it.

Collaborative Prevention

Establish and strengthen collaboration among community stakeholders and organizations to address youth substance use.

Community Substance Reduction

 Reduce substance use among youth and, over time, reduce substance use among adults by addressing the factors in a community that increase the risk of substance use and promoting the factors that minimize the risk of substance use.
